With millions of searches every day and a huge slice of the world’s available information and knowledge available, just what were the most popular searches on Google in 2017?
The everyday queries show our obsession with celebrities, technology and the arcane, such as how to make slime or cook a chicken breast.
Matt Lauer and Royal bride-to-be Meghan Markle top the list of personalities we wanted to know more about, while those we have lost still haunt the internet – led by Tom Petty and Chester Bennington.
Some of the least surprising top searches included asking about US President Donald Trump, while Brexit does not figure.
The global charts have a distinctly North American flavour, probably due to the number of Americans online.
