Summer Of Fun As Festival Fever Hits Dublin

The weather’s not always great in Dublin in the summer – but the city has a feast of spectacular festivals lined up to entertain visitors whatever the weather.

The temperatures may not soar too much outside in a traditional Irish summer, but some fabulous acts will more than make up for any disappointment.

Guy Garvey’s Elbow and the re-energised Spiritualized take to the Forbidden Fruit stage at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, on the June 3 Bank Holiday weekend. Tickets are still available, with a three-day weekender costing £169 each.

The big weekend out that is the Longitude Festival takes place at Marlay Park from July 5 to July 7.

Tickets are already sold out as the final headliner was revealed as rapper Cardi B.

Hard Working Class Heroes morphs into Ireland Music Week

Trinity College is hosting another summer Series of gigs in College Park from July 6 to July 11.

Big name headliners include George Porter, Primal Scream, Alt-J, The Pixies and the Jonas Brothers.

Ireland Music Week closes the summer, moving into autumn on October 1 to 5.

In earlier years, the music week was known as Hard Working Class Heroes and showcases a series of gigs by unsigned and emerging independent bands.

If you don’t fancy the open air exuberance of a festival, Dublin is set to stage dozens of big name bands for one-nighters at theatres and concert venues around the city throughout the summer.
