Richard Armitage
Richard Crispin Armitage aka Richard Armitage was born on 22nd August, 1971 and, raised in Leicestershire, England to Margaret (Hendey) a secretary and John Armitage an engineer by profession. He has an older brother named Chris.
Richard attended Huncote Community High School in Huncote, Blaby District and, began middle school at Brockington College in Enderby. At the age of fourteen, he persuaded his mother to let him join Pattinson College in Coventry which was an independent boarding school that specialized in performing arts so that he can focus on drama and, dance.
Other than acting, Richard Armitage even plays the cello, guitar and flute. He also worked at a laser gun place, and even took front—of-house jobs before he started his acting career. His trademark are his baritone voice and, blue-grey eyes. Because of his baritone voice, he was asked to record some audio books for the first season of the Robin-hood series. Since then he has recorded many audio books as well as worked as a narrator on many TV, radio shows and adverts.
He got his Equity card when he joined the Nachtcircus in Budapest for six months. After returning to England, he worked on the post of assistant choreographer with Kenn Oldfield and, performed in various ensembles of 42nd Street, My One and Only, Nine to name a few in the list. Along with this Armitage was also pursuing acting in dramatic theatre productions like: The Real Thing, Six Degrees of Separation and, Death of a Salesman.
After he completed LAMDA’s 3 year programme, he took a series of small roles both in television and films alike. He took aqua aerobics just to get into his character titled Lee in the movie Cold Feet which release in 1997, and in 2002, he starred in Use Me as Your Cardigan. In 2004, he got his first leading role as textile mill owner named John Thornton in the BBC adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South after which he was hailed as the new Mr. Darcy. From 2005 to present, he has worked in a number of notable TV roles like: Peter MacDuff in Macbeth, as Claude Monet in The Impressionists, as Dr. Alec Trec in The Golden Hour. He is also a part of the movie The Hobbit as Thoren Oakenshield.
He won the Audible Best of 2014 award for the movie Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel and, Best Leading Actor award for his role in the movie titled The Crucible. Last year he won the Best Supporting Actor award for the movie The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and many other such awards.
