Matt Damon And Jessica Chastain Attending The European Premier of ‘The Martian’

Matt Damon was recently seen portraying a supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s epic sci-fi extravaganza ‘Interstellar’ and now he is all set to be seen as the leading protagonist in another space epic titled ‘The Martian’. Matt Damon and his co-star in the movie Jessica Chastain are all set to attend the European Premier of their movie tonight. Directed by Ridley Scott, known to helm some of the most intense and exhilarating science fiction movies of our times such as ‘Prometheus’ and ‘Blade Runner’ has directed the film and going by the trailer, we can certainly say that this movie will prove to be a worthy addition to his extremely powerful portfolio.

The screening at the Odeon Leicester Square cinema is also expected to be attended by co-stars Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Jeff Daniels and Chiwetel Ejiofor, as well as director Ridley Scott. In the presence of all these celebrities the premier is already a hit but how the movie actually turns out, only time will tell but going by the intense anticipation among the general public regarding the film, we can somehow see a bit ahead in the future as the movie makes some good box office numbers in the opening weekend.

‘The Martian’ tells the story of the astronaut Mark Watney, played by Damon, who goes to a mars mission and presumed dead as nobody heard anything from him for sometime after his crew abandoned him on the planet after a fierce storm hit them hard. But Watney has survived, and finds himself stranded and alone on the Red Planet. Using all the resources he can muster, he must find a way to survive – and signal to Earth that he is alive. Against all odds, he makes contact, and the world unites behind efforts to bring “the Martian” home. While Nasa and a team of international scientists work tirelessly on a plan to get Watney back to his home planet, his crewmates – headed by Commander Melissa Lewis, played by Chastain – plot a daring rescue mission.

The premise of the movie is interesting enough, but all that matters is the treatment. Many of us remember how the critics thrashed ‘Prometheus’ citing that the director has lost his hold on the genre and his movies are constantly losing their charm. Guess what, we have to wait for sometime to know whether the genius director is back to his form or not. Apart from the science fictions, the director is also known for helming the solid period drama ‘Gladiator’ which was a huge critical and commercial success across the globe and is counted among the best films of all times.

‘The Martian’ is based on a very critically and commercially successful novel by American author Andy Weir and is slated to get a worldwide release on 30th September. Well, that ignites the craving to watch the awesome trailer once again, hell yeah!
