Kristen Wiig
Kristen Wiig or Kristen Carroll Wiig was born on August 22, 1973 in Canandaigua, New York and, was brought up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Rochester, New York. She is the daughter of Laurie J. an artist and, Jon J Wiig who ran a lake marina in Western New York. Her father is of Norwegian and Irish ancestry while her mother is of English and Scottish descent. Wiig attended Nitrauer Elementary School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and, later moved to Rochester, New York where she attended the Allendale Columbia School and completed her graduation from Brighton High School.
She took her first acting class, as an elective, and was soon encouraged by her teacher to pursue acting. Years later she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a main company member of the Los Angeles based The Groundlings. As its alumna, she joined the ranks of cast mates like Maya Rudolph, Will Ferrell, Phil Hartman and, John Lovitz.
Wiig appeared in the Spike TV show The Joe Schmo Show in 2003 and, made her debut as Katherine Heigl’s passive-aggressive boss in Judd Apatow’s hit comedy knocked up (2007). In 2008, she worked in several films like: Forgetting Sarah Marshal and, Ghost Town. Next year, she played supporting roles in Adventureland, Extract and Whip It. She married to actor Hayes Hargrove from 2005-2009 and was nicknamed The Brown Cow by her friends for her love of chocolates.
In 2010, she appeared in the movies MacGruber, Despicable Me (Both parts) and, also in All Good Things. However, her first lead role came through the movie Paul in 2011.In 2011, she also worked in the film Bridesmaid released on May 13, 2011. The movie became both a critical and box-office success. In 2011, she also voiced as Lola Bunny in the series The Looney Tunes Show. After 3 years in 2014, Wiig starred in The Skeleton Twins with her Saturday Night Live alumnus Bill Hader. Next year, she worked in the movie Nasty Baby as Polly, a family practitioner who is having a baby than having a man.
For 4 consecutive years 2009-2012 she got nominated for the movie Saturday Night Live in the category: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Also in 2011, she got nominated for the movie Bridesmaids in different categories namely: Best Writing: Original Screenplay and, Best Actress in Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical. Three years later in 2014, she was also nominated for The Skeleton Twins and, The Spoils of Babylon under the categories: Best Actress in a Comedy and, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a movie.
