Jay Ryan Celebrates 34th Birthday On August 29

Happy Birthday Jay Ryan

Jay Ryan, which is the stage name of Jay Bunyan, was born on August 29th, 1981 in Auckland, New Zealand. He has a sister, who is Half Tongan. Before Jay came into the film line, he worked as a clown entertaining young children on the weekends at a local supermarket. His pet name is Bunners. He, along with partner Dianna Fuemana, welcomed their first daughter ‘Eve’ in March 2013.

He is best known for his roles as Jack Scully in the soap opera Neighbors, as Kevin in the comedy drama series Go Girls and, as Vincent Keller in the American television series Beauty and the Beast.

He being from a theatre background has shared the stage with the likes of John Cleese and, has also toured internationally with THE PACKER, an acclaimed solo show written by NZ/Niuean playwright Dianna Fuemana.

Due to the overwhelming success of The Packer, Jay was offered a movie role but he had to turn it down due to his role in the Neighbors.

Jay appeared as Glen in the Scallywag Pirates under his birth-name Jay Bunyan. From 2007 to 2009 he played Seaman William “Billy” Webb aka Spider in the popular Australian drama Sea Patrol.

Jay played notable roles in Young Hercules, Xena: Warrior Princess with Lucy Lawless, Superfire, Being Eve, The Tribe, You Wish and, even in an award-winning series Offspring.

Other than the movies, Jay is also known for his role in a number of other theatre productions including an international tour with Monty Pythons, Seven Ways to Skin an Ocelot.

When Jay played the role of Kevin in Go Girls from 2009 to 2012, he also joined the cast of Australian drama Offspring. The same year he also starred on the American science fiction series Terra Nova playing the role of a murderer and, for this he utilized an American accent.

As per Jay Ryan, he always seems to get parts where he play as sports professional, which he says is not his cup of tea. Jay in 2003 got nominated for his role in Neighbours under the category: Most Popular New Male Talent and, also won the Equity Ensemble Award for his work in Top of The Lake under the category Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Miniseries or Telemovie.
