Apple has already sent out invites to more than 6,000 people for the launch event in San Francisco on September 9, 2015. It is expected that iPhone 7 will be as thin as the current iPod touch, based on the report of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. The retail launch is predicted for Friday; 18 September 2015.
Though iPhone 6s might be expected to make an appearance this week, yet the rumours are more focused on the iPhone 7. The launching event will be live streamed and people are ready to sign up to watch it on the Apple official website. The next iPhone could be called New iPhone Max, as per rumors.
The report says the next iPhone will approach iPod touch levels of thinness, with a body between 6 and 6.5mm. For comparison, the current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are 6.9 and 7.1mm respectively.
Apple has been making every new iPhone consistently thinner than the last, which made the users worry about durability. However, the recent testing of anodised aluminium shell of the iPhone 6s by Unbox Therapy found the new body could withstand more than twice the amount of pressure than the iPhone 6, eventually bucking under 80 pounds.
The next-generation iPhone, which is likely to be called either the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7, will come with a 3D Touch Display; a new and improved version of Force Touch like Apple Watch and MacBook Pro. The new models are even rumored to have a massively improved camera, as the camera will take 12MP shots and be capable of 4K Ultra HD video recordings, with the front camera capable of recording 1080p video at 60 fps, 240 fps in slow motion mode and flash support.
Main Rumours include:
- Force Touch technology
- A two-lens camera system for DLSR quality photos
- Scratch-resistant Sapphire glass
- A feature that ensures handsets land screen-up
- A smaller, faster and less power-hungry A9 processor
