Google has turned up some surprises in the search engine’s annual list of global trending topics.
Split into nine categories and covering millions of searches, disgraced American Football star Antonio Brown manages to top two lists.
Former New England Patriots wide receiver Brown has been involved in high-profile antics on and off the field, including allegations of rape.
Another bad boy highlighted in more than one trending category is Empire actor Jussie Smollett.
He was charged with staging a racist and homophobic attack, but the case was subsequently dropped.
Top TV and movies
The most looked for movie was blockbuster Avengers: End Game, while the mammoth run of TV epic Game of Thrones pushed the program to the top of the listings ahead of the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Sport was spread across several trending topics in a year the Copa America, the Cricket World Cup and Rugby World Cup gripped fans and audiences worldwide.
Rapper Lil Nas X performed the most popular song, Old Town Road with Ariana Grande in second place with 7 Rings.
Out of those no longer with us after passing away this year, the two most searched for names were Disney actor Cameron Boyce and rapper Nipsey Hussle. Racing driver and airline entrepreneur Niki Lauda made the top 10, alongside alleged sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
