The first trailer has been released for season 2 of Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad spin-off created by Vince Gilligan.
Widely regarded as being the greatest series ever made, Breaking Bad was notable for a number of subtle nuances, not least the continual feeling of anxiety while watching most of the episodes. One of the show’s more light hearted characters, Saul Goodman, expertly portrayed by former journeyman comedy actor Bob Odenkirk, came back to our screens earlier in 2015, and unlike most spin-offs in existence, it was very well received, keeping the unique shooting, editing and directing of Breaking Bad, and preserving the credibility of the franchise.
Now season 2 is just around the corner, and although no confirmed date is in place yet for the airing, it is thought that early 2016 will see everyone’s favourite “criminal” lawyer return after a triumphant first season of ups and downs.
The series acts as a prequel to Breaking Bad, following Saul Goodman (real name Jimmy McGill) as he struggles to find work as a lawyer, often blighted by the shadow cast over him by his formerly successful brother, a partner in a huge law firm, who he also now has to look after due to his fear of the outside and electronic devices and many other things.
Jimmy McGill, as he was still at this time known, journeys through life with a conscience and ethics, only to find he gets trampled on at every turn, which leads him to obviously become the lawyer we all know and love by the time Walter White and Jesse Pinkman enter his world in Breaking Bad.
Doing the right thing is “never stopping me again,” he exclaims in the season 2 trailer, a statement he makes in the last show of the first series. The ability for a show to go back in time and show a main character’s journey, to which we already know the outcome, is a highly difficult task. But as you’d expect, Gilligan and his team pulled it off in Season 1. We are promised plenty of ‘surprises’ in the second season. The excitement builds
