Apple Acknowledged The Third Problem In iOS 9.

IPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus are selling like hot cakes today, but the case is not same with iOS 9. First, there were download failures, then upgrade problem and now third problem is on the rise. Apple has admitted about this third problem.

On its official news site, apple published that the features of iOS 9 are broken. The reason is said to be bugs in iCloud. The admission on apple news site was:

“App slicing is currently unavailable for iOS 9 apps due to an issue affecting iCloud backups created from iOS 9 where some apps from the App Store would only restore to the same model of iOS device,” Apple states. “When a customer downloads your iOS 9 app, they will get the Universal version of your app, rather than the variant specific for their device type.”

Concept of App slicing

It is a brilliant advancement due to which, app store can identify the device of downloader and hence only download the files necessary for that particular model.

Before the concept of App slicing in iOS 9, the user device just had the universal app that would download files for all types of devices. Be it iPhone variants, iPad variants or iPod touch variants. This caused for a huge wasted space. It was about 20-40% when downloading new apps.

The situation of losing App slicing is not ideal when there is an addition of 12MP cameras, Live Photos and 4K video. The borderline of base level iPhone 6S Plus and 16GB iPhone 6S is now pointless.

The good news is that the App Slicing will return and that too with a future software update.  There is no date when iOS 9 will feature App slicing. It is sure that no other installing requirement will be there when the app update comes along.

Apple has clearly understood the fact that ‘no bugs’ is no doubt the most preferred situation, but an honest and open transparent approach is far more welcomed. It is to be noted, that company behaved differently during the lifespan of iOS 8, where apple just refused to admit many bugs in the update for many months.  They took 5 months to admit about GMT bug and seven for WiFried bug.   However, the latest approach of apple in case of third problem in iOS 9, after very soon of its release, is a great example of how apple is very upfront with its users of this generation.
