Andrew Lincoln Celebrates His 42nd Birthday on September 14

Andrew James Clutterbuck or Andrew Lincoln as many know him was born on September 14, 1973 in London. His father was an English civil engineer and his mother was a South African nurse. His family moved to Kingston upon Hull when he was 18 months old, and then to Bath, Somerset when he was eight or nine.

Lincoln attended Beechen Cliff School, where at age 14 he had his first acting role as the Artful Dodger in a school production of Oliver.After leaving school, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) and began to use “Andrew Lincoln” as his stage name. He became interested in acting as a career when he spent a summer at the National Youth Theatre in London.

His brother is a teacher and he went to school with him for a few weeks to research his part in Teachers (2001).His wife Gael Anderson is the daughter of Ian Anderson, lead singer of the rock group Jethro Tull and, they have a son named Arthur and a daughter named Matilda.Apple Martin, the daughter of Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, served as a flower girl at his wedding. He is also a wide supporter of Shelter, the British charity for the homeless.

Lincoln made his first on-screen appearance in “Births and Deaths”, a 1994 episode of Channel 4 sitcom Drop the Dead Donkey and, soon after finishing drama school, he was offered his first major role playing Edgar “Egg” Cook, one of the leading characters in the drama titled This Life.He became a part of number of British television series, dramas and films such as The Woman in White, The Canterbury Tales and Wuthering Heights,but, he got famous as probationary teacher Simon Casey in Teachers. He also had a lead role as university lecturer and psychologist Robert Bridge in Afterlife, and starred in the 2010 Sky One series Strike Back with Richard Armitage. In films he was seen in Human Traffic, Gangster No.1, but, he got appreciated for his role in Love Actually (2003).

He also appeared in a number of plays like Mountain(1999), Blue/Orange(2000) and 2001, The Late Henry Moss(2006) and many others. Among all his awards and, various nominations, his most successful work was in The Walking Dead for which he won many awards in different categories the year 2010, 2012, 2014 and even in 2015.
