Alexel Bledel Celebrates Her 34th Birthday on September 16

Kimberly Alexis Bledel or Alexis was born on September 16, 1981 in Houston, Texas to Nanette, who worked as a gift processor and flight attendant, and Martin Bledel. She has a younger brother, Eric. Her father was born and raised in Argentina.

Apart from acting, she enjoys photography, writing, reading, watching movies, and hanging out with her family. Bledel dated her Gilmore Girls co-star Milo Ventimiglia from 2002 to 2006 and, in mid-2012, she started dating Vincent Kartheiser. Bledel and Kartheiser announced their engagement in March 2013 and, got married in California in June 2014.

Bledel grew up in a Spanish-speaking household, and did not learn English until she began school; she considers herself a Latina. She attended Catholic St. Agnes Academy in Houston, as well as Baptist and Lutheran schools. Her mother encouraged her to try Community Theater to overcome her problem of shyness and, she also went to Page Parkes Center for Modeling and Acting and attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts for one year. She started modeling at the age of 14.She hates coffee but since her character Rory was supposed to consume it daily for Gilmore Girls, she actually drinks Coca-Cola out of the supposed coffee mugs.

Bledel made her television debut through comedy-drama titled Gilmore Girls, which ran from the year 2000 to 2007. She made her feature film debut in the fantasy romantic drama Tuck Everlasting, based on Natalie Babbitt’s novel of the same name released in 2002, though she was an uncredited extra in the 1998 comedy-drama Rushmore. In 2005, she co-starred in the drama The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in which she played the role of Lena Kaligaris, an aspiring artist on a journey with her three best friends, linked over the summer by a pair of magical jeans.

In 2009, Bledel was seen in the romantic comedy The Good Guy. In the same year in April, Bledel guest-starred in the medical drama titled And in the End…as Dr. Julia Wise. Next month in May she signed a contract with the modeling division of IMG. She also became a part of another historical drama titled The Conspirator directed by Robert Redford. Also in 2010, Bledel starred as the title role in the Canadian drama The Kate Logan Affair.

In her film industry career, she won Teen Choice Award 2 times, Young Artist award and, Family Television award for her work in Gilmore Girls.
